We were currently in the midst of the MetroPCS “Android For All” campaign, and were asked to come up with something for the launch of the US market’s first 4G device, the Samsung Indulge.
We immediately thought of Snoop, and thought it would be funny to add a few extra G’s to Snoop Dogg’s name… Snoop D-O Quadrulple G (4G’s get it), to help introduce the Samsung Indulge, the world’s first commercially available 4G/LTE Android smartphone. Then, we had the idea of tying in another G, Mr. Warren G…and the idea of The G Connection was born. It was a corny 80’s take of “The Love Connection.”
Around this time, the homeless man with the “Golden Voice,” Ted Williams was all over the news, and we were able to secure him to lend his voice to the production. This was his very first gig since being homeless, and the video received a lot of media attention.
“It feels good to be working with MetroPCS and Samsung for the launch of the Galaxy Indulge. I’m stepping it up to 4G’s so my phone can keep up with my demanding, always-connected lifestyle” said Mr. Dogggg.
To coincide with the launch of the video, we put together the “Indulge with Snoop Dogggg” sweepstakes. The grand prize package was a trip to a Snoop Dogggg concert with VIP treatment, front row tickets, backstage passes, airfare and incidentals and two Samsung Indulge 4G/LTE Android phones. To enter, you had to visit your nearest MetroPCS store.
